The British Metal band Venom, led by the vocalist and bassist Cronos covered Black Sabbath‘s “Children of the Grave”, “Symptom of the Universe” and “Paranoid” to honor the singer Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away last July at the age of 76. They played the songs during their show at the Helsinki Metal Festival in Finland this week.
First known as Guillotine and Dwarfstar, Venom was formed in 1978 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and gained notoriety being part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their first two records “Welcome to Hell” (1981) and “Black Metal” (1982) are considered extremely important for the development of other Metal genres like Black Metal, Thrash Metal and Extreme Metal. The only original member of the group that is still in the line-up is Conrado “Cronos” Lant (Bass and vocals), who is accompanied by the longtime bandmates Stuart “Rage” Dixon (Guitar) and Danny “Dante” Needham (Drums).
I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
