Tom Morello gives his opinion on White Stripes’ drummer Meg White

Formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1997, The White Stripes released their debut album in 1999 and became one of the biggest Rock and Roll bands of the new millennium. The group was formed by Jack White (Guitar and vocals) and Meg White (Drums and vocals).

Recently a discussion gained the internet after people started to criticize Meg’s skills as a drummer. Her ex-bandmate and ex-husband Jack White defended her and many other musicians also chimed in to praise her. One of them is the Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello. He shared his opinion on his Instagram page.

“I hear there’s some controversy on this matter lately so let me set fools straight: #MegWhite is one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock n roll. It’s not even a debate. There are a HANDFUL of drummers EVER who are INSTANTLY recognizable rocking their MANY HIT SONGS with Flavor, Fire & Flair. She’s on that list, bruh.”

“Does she do a lot a complicated tom tom fills? No, THANK GOD. She has style and swag and personality and oomph and taste and awesomeness that’s off the charts and a vibe that’s untouchable by all you boring-ass skin beaters who think we care about your ‘tight’ syncopated para-diddles. She is a FORCE and her records are forever step-stones on how to do it your own way while rocking the damn planet. @officialjackwhite knows too, so show some respect.” Tom Morello said.

The band was active from 1997 until 2011 and released six albums. They are: “The White Stripes” (1999), “De Stijl” (2000), “White Blood Cells” (2001), “Elephant” (2003), “Get Behind Me Satan” (2005) and “Icky Thump” (2007).

They had several hits like: “Seven Nation Army”, “Fell In Love With a Girl”, “Blue Orchid”, “We’re Going To Be Friends” and “Icky Thump”.

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
