The Swedish band Ghost announced their first concert movie, that according to them will be much more than that, mixing the show with fiction scenes. Called “Rite Here Rite Now”, a reference to a famous line of their 2016 hit “Square Hammer”, but changing the word “right” to “rite”.
The show featured on the movie was shot over the course of their two sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last year and the fans were prohibited to use cameras at the show. The movie will be “haunting the cinemas” all over the world next June 20 and 22 only.
In an official statement, the band talked about the movie, saying it is: “So much more than a concert movie. Ghost’s debut feature film combines live performance from the two-night finale of the band’s Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023 with a narrative story that picks up plot threads from the band’s long-running webisode series.”
“The result is an utterly unique phantasmagorical blend: Flesh and bone renditions of favorites from all five of Ghost’s albums as well as the RIAA platinum-certified “Mary On A Cross” and more are interwoven with the silver screen debuts of a few faces familiar to the band’s legions of fans—all interacting behind the scenes with Ghost’s Papa Emeritus IV, as his future and fate lay in the hands of the Ministry,” the statement said.

In 2022 Ghost released “Impera” their fifth studio album and in 2023 the covers EP “Phantomine” that features versions from classic Iron Maiden, Genesis and Tina Turner tracks.
The band was formed in Linköping, Sweden in 2006 by Tobias Forge, which has been the mastermind behind the group compositions and the only constant member. Their first album “Opus Eponymous” was released in 2010 and since then they have released four more records: “Infestissumam” (2013), “Meliora” (2015), “Prequelle” (2018) and “Impera” (2022).
They also had released many successful singles and EPs like “If You Have Ghost” (2013), “Popestar” (2016), “Seven Inches of Satanic Panic” (2019) and “Phantomine” (2023). They finished their Re-Imperator tour in 2023, which had shows in Europe, North America, Australia and South America. There are no scheduled tour dates for 2024 and Tobias Forge said he was already writing for their next album.
