Bruce Kulick says that people who say Kiss is simple are idiots

Kiss was formed back in 1973 in New York City by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley, becoming in the following years one of the biggest bands in the world. But during the five decades the band was active the only two constant members were Gene and Paul, so the group had many lead guitarists and drummers along the way. One of them was the guitarist Bruce Kulick, who was part of the band from 1984 to 1996, when they were not using makeup.

Although the band has millions of fans and have sold an estimated amount of more than 100 million records worldwide, there are also a lot of people who don’t like their music. Many of them say they were really simple. In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Kulick said those people are idiots and explained why they are wrong.

“Nobody could play it better than those guys the way they performed it,” he explains, using the solo in “Detroit Rock City” as one particular example.”Anyone that considers Kiss simple or easy music to play, they’re idiots. This stuff is hard. It’s just that the band never got credit that way and it always should,” Bruce Kulick said.

Bob Kulick’s younger brother, Bruce was also a member of bands like Union with John Corabi (1997 to 2002) and Grand Funk Railroad (From 2000 to 2023). But he is active in the music business since 1968 and was part during the past decades of many Kiss conventions, even performing with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Gene Simmons sometimes.

As a session guitarist, he recorded with names like Ronnie Spector, Don Johnson, Bret Michaels, Todd Rundgren, Lordi and Avantasia.

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
