Alice Cooper released “Black Mamba”, the first single of the upcoming album “The Revenge of Alice Cooper”, which is the first record the musician made with his original bandmates in 51 years. They are the guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith. Guitar parts previously recorded by the late guitarist Glen Buxton (Died in 1997) are also part of the album.
They were all inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and performed together that night. The new record will be out next July 26 via earMUSIC.
“I think I’ll hide inside your bed sheets
Coiled into the folds so white
I’ll just watch you while you’re sleeping, darling
And decide if I should bite
I’m so beautiful to look at
But oh, so dangerous to touch
You’re just a slave to temptation baby,
Perhaps you want me much too much
I think I’ll hide inside your bed sheets
Coiled into the folds so white
I’ll just watch you while you’re sleeping, baby
And decide if I should bite
Ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya…
Come a little closer darlin’
Look into my eyes
I ain’t domesticated
I’m not that civilized
I’m crawling up your leg now baby
To hiss-per in your ear
A little poison lie now baby
You got nothin’ to fear
Ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya…
I love your touch now baby
I love to feel your skin
I wanna slide inside and hide
Before I do you in
Black Mamba slides
Black Mamba sways
A word to the wise, now baby
You better get out of my way
Black Mamba slides
Black Mamba sways
A word to the wise, now baby
You better get out of my way
Ya ya ya ya
Ya ya ya ya…”
Cooper talked with Billboard about the new record, saying: “It was very much like this was our next album after (1973’s) Muscle of Love, just like, ‘OK, this is the next album.’ Isn’t that funny after 50 years? All of a sudden it just falls into place.”
“(…) If we’re gonna do an original Alice record, I want it to sound like the original Alice band. The original band has a darker sound, and a heavier sound. It’s a very different personality, and I even sing differently when I sing with those guys,” he said.
I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
