Klaus Meine and Rudolf talks about Michael Schenker

Brothers do not always get along and sometimes they remain apart for long periods. That is the case with Rudolf and Michael Schenker, who were bandmates in Scorpions from 1969 to 1973 and again from 1978 to 1979. They have not been on good terms for several years, and Michael has not said many positive things about his brother in the press.

In an interview with Classic Rock, while discussing Scorpions’ 60th anniversary and their celebratory hometown concert in Hannover, singer Klaus Meine and guitarist Rudolf Schenker talked about Michael.

“Well, it’s a family affair and it’s their business. I think Rudolf was pretty much up for Michael joining us, actually, but the whole guest issue was very complicated by Ozzy’s farewell show and other people’s touring commitments. There is part of me that wishes whatever (bad blood) is between us all could be washed away and we could hang with Michael like we did in the old days. He’s still a wonderful guitar player, truly amazing,” Klaus Meine said.

About his brother, Rudolf said: “I love Michael, but he’s too different. He’s a solo artist, and he has a hard time being part of a band. But like everyone who has played with the Scorpions, he will be thanked on the sleeve of Coming Home Live.”

About the show and inviting Uli Jon Roth as a special guest, Rudolf said that there were some things that prevented that from happening too. “But the record company wanted a live album, we were also filming the show, and Uli wanted his own amplifier, all his own gear on stage. We said: ‘Sorry, Uli, we can’t have people getting bored watching roadies.’ I think it was good we concentrated on ourselves. That way we made no mistakes,” Michael Schenker said.

Besides the new record “Coming Home Live” and new compilation called “At First Sting”, the biggest celebration of their anniversary will be the biographical movie “Wind of Change”, which it is expected to be released in 2026.
