After announcing their retirement in 2019 followed by a world tour, Slayer announced their return in 2024. The group announced that they will perform at the Riot Fest in Chicago next September and at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville in the same month. Alongside Tom Araya (Bass and vocals) and Kerry King (Guitar), the final members of the band Paul Bostaph (Drums) and Gary Holt (Guitar) will also come back for these shows.

“Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans and to be honest, we have missed that,” Tom Araya said.
Kerry King also talked about the return, saying: “Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans. They mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them.”
The surprising announcement came a few weeks after the guitarist Kerry King said that he didn’t speak to Araya since the band came to an end. But it doesn’t seem like Slayer will tour around the world at least this year since Kerry King now has a solo band and has many scheduled tour dates in 2024.
