Ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, fired in 2021 after a sex scandal, released a new song called “Maggot Wind” with The Lucid, his new band. Besides Ellefson, the band that announced their debut album has drummer Mike Heller (Raven), guitarist Drew Fortier and singer Vinnie Dombroski.

About the album, David Ellefson said:
“It’s been a real blast making a record with these guys and I must say that it’s refreshing to explore some new musical avenues… to step out a bit from what each of us have done stylistically in our own careers.”

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine announced on May, 25 that Ellefson was no longer a member of the band:
“We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with MEGADETH and that we are officially parting ways with him. We do not take this decision lightly. While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward. We look forward to seeing our fans on the road this summer. So we cannot wait to share our brand new music with the world. It is almost complete.”
