Tom Petty song is the soundtrack of GTA IV trailer

After almost a decade waiting for the Grand Theft Auto V sequel, the game production company Rockstar finally revealed the official trailer for GTA IV which will be set in Vice City, which was the scenario of their famous GTA: Vice City released in 2002. Fans all over the world were thrilled with the trailer, because the game will also be the firstof the series to have a female main character. It was even more special for Rock and Roll fans since the song played in it is “Love is A Long Road” from Tom Petty’s (1989) album “Full Moon Fever“.

It’s not the first time his music is involved in the game series, since “Runnin’ Down a Dream” was part of the famous “GTA: San Andreas” released in 2004.

There are many easter eggs hidden in the trailer and one of them is a sticker that says “Tom Petty Forever”. The musician passed away back in 2017 at the age of 66 victim of an accidental drug overdose of several medications.

The late artist social networks commented on the trailer, saying: “Tom loved contributing “Runnin’ Down A Dream” to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, so it is an honor to have “Love Is A Long Road” featured in Trailer 1 for Grand Theft Auto VI from.”

Rockstar responded for that message, saying: “We are honored and thank you! #pettyforever”.

Grand Theft Auto is one of the best-selling game series of all time. They have sold more than 405 million units. Analysts estimate that GTA IV have costed around 2 billion dollars to be made.

It is set to be released in 2025 but Rockstar still didn’t reveal the exact date or cost. It is expected to be released first for Xbox and Playstaion 5 consoles. For more than two decades GTA has been one of the most popular game series in the world and it is the most praised “open world” game that ever existed.
