Ticket companies will give refunds for more than 18.000 shows postponed

Ticketmaster announced their plans to give refunds for over 18.000 events postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. They would begin in May 1 when many postponed shows will announced their rescheduled dates. The fans will start receiving e-mails with a 30-day option of getting a full refund. But, if the refund request is not submitted within 30 days, the ticket will be valid for the rescheduled date.

In total, Ticketmaster is handling 55,000 events worth $2 billion in ticket sales for 2020.

Live Nation

Other big ticket company, Live Nation will  offer an option to receive credit for canceled and postponed shows. The refunds will can be done through the Rock When You Are Ready program. Or they can donate their tickets to health care workers through the Hero Nation program.

The company said about the refunds:

“For canceled shows, refunds will be automatically processed within 30 days, unless fans voluntarily opt into other programs.

“Live Nation venues will offer fans an option to receive a 150% credit for the value of their tickets to be used for a future Live Nation show. Fans will also be able to donate the proceeds of their refund to a charity to give concert tickets to health care workers, with Live Nation matching ticket donations.”

Since the the pandemic appeared, only 3 months ago, more than 100.000 people died due to the Coronavirus. Also, the United States is the country most affected by the virus until now. The country already registred more than 545.000 cases. Many bands like MetallicaIron Maiden and Kiss postponed their tour dates.
