The guitarist that Steve Lukather described as insanely original

The legendary Toto and session guitarist Steve Lukather not only made incredible albums with the American band but also was part of the recording of many incredible records by other famous artists and bands. He played with names like Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond, Cher, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Aretha Franklin, Elton John and many more.

So it’s not easy to impress him when playing the guitar, but he recently mentioned, in an interview with Matt Pinfield (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar), a musician who has an insane originality.

The guitarist that Steve Lukather described as insanely original

“Tim Henson’s originality is insane. I would never have approached the guitar the way he does in a million years. And I love the fact that women have stepped up. It’s either you’re good at the guitar, or you’re not; sex has nothing to do with it. It’s exciting to see.”

“Kids today start out learning ‘Eruption’ as their first song – the first thing I ever learned how to play was an E chord! There’s quite a bit of difference in the entry-level of being a musician now, as opposed to 1964 when I was a single-digit kid who could play some Beatles songs.”

The young guitarist is a member of the band Polyphia, which was formed in Plano, Texas back in 2010. They are an Instrumental Progressive Rock band and besides him, the band is formed by Scott LePage (Guitar), Clay Gober (Bass) and Clay Aeschiliman (Drums). Since then, the band has released four studio albums: “Muse” (2014), “Renaissance” (2016), “New Levels New Devils” (2018) and “Remember That You Will Die” (2022).

Henson also has a successful Youtube channel.

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
