The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the nominees for the 2019 edition.
They are:
- Radiohead
- The Cure
- Stevie Nicks
- Def Leppard
- Janet Jackson
- Roxy Music
- The Zombies
Rage Against the Machine, Devo, Kraftwerk, MC5, Rufus and Chaka Khan, and Todd Rundgren were on the list of potential nominees. But, they will have to wait another year for the possible inclusion in Rock Hall.
A committee of 1,000 artists, historians and music members, as well as fans, voted for nominees. To enter the list, a band must have released the first album for at least 25 years.
Stevie Nicks said:
“I have a lot to say about this, but I will save those words for later. For now, I will just say, I have been in a band since 1968. To be recognized for my solo work makes me take a deep breath and smile. It’s a glorious feeling.”
Janet Jackson:
“Thank you Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I am truly honored and I am happy to be in there with my brothers.”
Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott:
“Now we can stop holding our breath. How wonderful to be in the same club as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles and The Who and Queen… It’s a nice badge of honor.”
