Robert Trujillo gives details about Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral service

The Metallica bassist, who previously worked with Ozzy Osbourne from 1996 to 2003, was part of the late musician’s funeral service, which took place at his mansion in Buckinghamshire, England.

According to him, it was a beautiful ceremony, and at certain moments, he even felt as though the singer was playing jokes on the guests, like when his daughter Kelly was singing and her lyrics flew away, or when the sun suddenly appeared as Geezer Butler gave his eulogy.

Rob Trujillo recalled the ceremony in an interview with Eddie Trunk on Sirius XM: “It was a small group of people, but it was very, very beautiful. And in the end, the speeches were actually… I mean, it was very sad, but at the same time some of the speeches were — as you could imagine — pretty funny. And there were a lot of tears. Sabbath kind of ended with their speech, especially with Geezer. Geezer broke down into tears. He had a hard time, obviously, speaking, and then he came back up and he delivered an amazing eulogy.”

“It had been raining at the beginning of the service, about an hour — I don’t know — longer than an hour before. And then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen. When Kelly was singing, her lyrics flew — the wind blew her lyrics away. It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her. And then when Geezer spoke, actually spoke, the sun came out. I’m not kidding. The sun actually came out, and then it was beautiful from that moment on — a very magical moment.”

He continued:

“And again, it’s sad, but at the same time, people (were) sharing stories. And all of a sudden, there was laughter, and ‘I remember this’, ‘I remember that’. There were so many stories. I mean, we’d be on the phone forever on this interview. So, it felt like there was a closure from this. And I’m glad that we went — my wife Chloe and I went — and shared that and were able to have that moment with the family and everything. So it was very beautiful. And again, heartfelt words from so many people and kind of reconnecting with different musicians and bandmates, crew members, all that,” Rob Trujillo said (Transcribed by Blabbermouth).

Ozzy was buried close to the lake of the property

A friend of the Osbourne family told The Sun that the late musician “wanted his final place of rest to be at home and he is buried at a beautiful point on the lake. Everyone at the service just wanted to support Sharon and the kids, it has been an awful time. Toasts were raised, memories were shared — it was a very fitting goodbye. Ozzy’s service was a beautiful tribute. As well as tears, there was laughter,” the person told the newspaper.

The ceremony was held right after Ozzy’s funeral procession, which was livestreamed to the entire world. During the procession, the family stopped at the Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham to thank fans for their support and to give them a chance to say one final goodbye to the Sabbath frontman. The hearse also passed by his childhood home, where fans had left many messages and flowers.

According to The Sun, about 110 people attended Ozzy’s private funeral and among those were Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, James HetfieldElton John, Zakk Wylde, Rob Zombie, Marylin Manson, Yungblud.
