Paul Stanley talks about Jane’s Addiction stage fight

The legendary Kiss co-founder, guitarist, and singer Paul Stanley discussed the recent events surrounding Jane’s Addiction’s stage fight in an interview with Steve-O (transcribed by Blabbermouth). The band’s vocalist, Perry Farrell, assaulted guitarist Dave Navarro on stage, and later, the band announced a hiatus while Farrell stated he would seek mental health help. The Kiss member said that no matter what you don’t bring the problems between band members to the stage. Because according to him it is really disrespectful to the fans who are paying to see the band they love. The musician said it doesn’t matter if they are in the middle or the end of a tour, that particular show is not just another show, it’s that audience’s night.

“Cardinal rule: you don’t hit. And you don’t bring your problems on stage. You leave your ego — well, that’s more difficult. But you leave your anger and your resentment at the bottom of the stairs. And we would go on stage and have a great time sometimes playing and then walk off stage and not be talking to each other. The audience doesn’t deserve that. The audience paid. And that goes back to that same philosophy of being the band we never saw.”

“People get one chance to see you, possibly on a tour. It doesn’t matter about last night or about the night after — that’s their night, and for them to see you not interacting with your bandmate, that’s kid shit. That’s disrespectful to the people who paid.”

“There was a few times (In Kiss) where there were two people who wouldn’t be talking to two other people. You go up on stage and rock out and have a great time and then you walk off stage and you don’t have anything to do with them. It’s your job,” Paul Stanley said.

After 50 years on the road Kiss came to an end in 2023 playing their final shows at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, city where the band was formed.
