Kiss vocalist and guitarist Paul Stanley talked with Outlaw Magazine about when Rush opened for the band. He also recalled the late drummer Neil Peart that died in January 2020 and was one of the best drummers of all time.
Paul Stanley said about Rush and Neil Peart:
“The first time Rush opened for us, they had their original drummer, John Rutsey, along with Geddy [Lee, bassist/vocalist] and Alex [Lifeson, guitarist]. But when Neil [Peart] joined, overnight it became a different band, Suddenly, they had this incredible musician backing Geddy and Alex.
“There was only one Rush and they perfected a style and walked a road that nobody else had been on. I saw that band in its infancy and they went on to build an incredible legacy.”
Besides Rush, other famous bands opened for Kiss back then. Some of them are:
- Tom Petty
- Uriah Heep
- Bob Seger
- Ted Nugent
- AC/DC
- Judas Priest
- Sammy Hagar
- Iron Maiden
- Mötley Crüe
- Bon Jovi
