In an interview with The Times, Ozzy said that Iommi was essential in the band: “If I like to work with him? Not really. I like him as a person? Yes, I love him as a person. But if anyone asks me if there was a Black Sabbath leader. I’d have to say it was Tony Iommi, because without his guitar riffs we’d still be sitting in a rehearsal with our thumbs tucked into our asses saying, ‘What do we do now?’ ”
The singer further compared his relationship with Black Sabbath with a courtship, saying he has fond memories of the group, but that on his return, he remembered all the bad situations they had together.
Ozzy is currently on a farewell tour.
