Music venue opens at Pink Floyd’s “Animals” album cover location

The Battersea Power Station in London is the location pictured on the cover of Pink Floyd‘s 1977 album “Animals”. It was a coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames. It was decommissioned in the early ’80s and remained empty until 2014. Since then, it has been transformed into a shopping mall with residential apartments on the upper floors. It also features an elevator ride to the top of one of the chimneys, which Rock and Roll Garage had the chance to experience in 2026, as you can see in the video in the article.

Apple’s European headquarters are already located in the building and the company has announced the opening of Apple Music Hall, a new music venue inside the complex with a capacity of 600 people.

Apple Music vice president Oliver Schusser talked about the new venue, saying: “Apple’s deep love for music dates all the way back to the very beginning, from the launch of the iPod to the long-running iTunes Music Festival to the debut of Apple Music. Today, with the opening of Apple Music Hall, we are once again taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do.”
