“We are devastated by the news we received earlier today. Edward Allan Clarke – or as everyone knows ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke – passed away yesterday. Ted Carroll (founder of Chiswick Records) gave the sad news on his Facebook after Doug Smith told him that Fast Eddie died peacefully in the hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia (…)
Fast Eddie, keep roaring and making Rock ‘N’ Roll because your family Motörhead would not expect less than that !!!
Rest in Peace Fast Eddie Clarke October 5, 1950 – January 10, 2018. ”
Clarke was introduced to Lemmy by drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor in the 70’s and he soon joined the band.
The musician was part of Motörhead’s first studio album, self-titled, released in 1977 and also played in Overkill (1979), Bomber (1979), Ace Of Spades (1980) and Iron Fist (1982). Their departure was announced shortly after the release of this last album claiming that they did not like the direction they took on the album.
Upon leaving the band, Clarke joined Pete Way, a former UFO bassist, and formed Fastway which released seven studio albums, the latest in 2011, Dog Eat Dog.
We from Rock and Roll Garage are truly sorry for this lost. Motörhead is now complete in heaven or hell. The only certainty is that they are now playing louder than ever!
