Mick Mars talks about his current health status

Mick Mars recently released the first single of his solo career which will be part of his upcoming album called “The Other Side of Mars” and will be out next February 23. In an interview with Q104.3 (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), the musician talked about this new phase of his career and also shared a health status.

For decades he has been dealing with ankylosing spondylitis, which is an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the bones in the spine, called vertebrae, to fuse. It was the main reason why he decided to retire from touring with Mötley Crüe, but of course, he would like to continue to be a member of the band and that became a legal battle in court.

Mick Mars talks about his current health status

“I’m fine. My AS is what it is. There’s nothing I could do about that. The hard stuff, like flying here and doing this — that crap is a little difficult for me to do nowadays ’cause I’m almost a solid bone now. It got a little rough, but that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna do a lot of music. As long as my brain and my hands and legs work, I’m never stopping,” Mick Mars said.

The 72 year-old musician also said that he could make some shows to promote the new album but it would have to be a kind of residency somewhere so that he didn’t need to travel that much.

On the album the musician had several musicians who helped him like the keyboardist Paul Taylor (Winger, Alice Cooper), singer Jacob Bunton, drummer Ray Luzier (Korn), bassist Chris Collier and singer Brion Gamboa.

“The Other Side of Mars” tracklist:

  1. Loyal To The Lie
  2. Broken On The Inside
  3. Alone
  4. Killing Breed
  5. Memories
  6. Right Side Of Wrong
  7. Ready To Roll
  8. Undone
  9. Ain’t Going Back
  10. LA Noir

Alongside the bassist and lyricisst Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars was the only original member of Mötley Crüe who was part of all the band’s releases.
