Mick Mars doesn’t want to talk with ex-Mötley Crüe bandmates

In the beginning of 2023 Mötley Crüe announced that the guitarist Mick Mars had decided to retire from the band and would be replaced by John 5. After a few months when the group had already started touring with the new guitar player, Mars revealed that he was going to take legal action against the group because they had reportedly tried to the rights he has as an original member of the group.

Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Mars said that he really doesn’t want to talk with Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil again. Their relationship was never good over the decades and there is even stories told by other famous musicians, such as Bob Daisley, that back in the 80s they wanted to kick him out of the band because he was much older than them. Mars is 72, while the other three have 60 to 64.

“Nobody spoke to me in 2022. A lot of the time felt like I was just playing by myself. You know how you can be in a crowd of people and still feel alone? That’s how I felt that whole tour. I felt used, sad, and inferior. When we played the last show (in Las Vegas on September 9, 2022) I felt relieved. A lot of the pressure was gone. But I was very emotionally wounded. They weren’t just shallow wounds. They were deep ones; the kind you can’t get over.”

“I think all of us would be okay with that (To not talk with each other anymore). And I don’t just mean me with them. I mean them with each other. I don’t plan on having a funeral. If I did, I think maybe they’d show up for that just out of courtesy. But for me, there’s no funeral. There’s no nothing,” Mick Mars said.

For decades Mars battles a rare disease called ankylosing spondylitis, which is an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the bones in the spine, called vertebrae, to fuse.

In the same interview with Rolling Stone he had also revealed the title of his debut solo album, which will be called “Another Side of Mars”.
