Iggy Pop first achieved fame and entered Rock history as the frontman of The Stooges, band formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 1967. The band was active from 1967 to to 1974 and from 2003 to 2016. The classic line-up was formed by Iggy Pop (Vocals), Dave Alexander (Bass), Ron Asheton (Guitar) and Scott Asheton (Drums).
Over the decades they released five studio albums: “The Stooges” (1969), “Fun House” (1970), “Raw Power” (1973), “The Weirdness” (2007) and “Ready To Die” (2013).
The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 by the Green Day vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong. In the induction speech, Billie said: “They symbolize the destruction of Flower Power and they introduce us to Raw Power”. Iggy, who also had a successful and influential solo career, still wasn’t inducted as a solo artist.
