Ex-Bon Jovi Richie Sambora is recovering from emergency surgery
The former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora celebrated his 66 birthday last July 11 and is recovering from an emergency surgery after he broke his hand playing touch football. The procedure happened a few months ago and he is under care of sports medicine experts who work with NFL superstars. According to People, the recovering process is better than the doctors expected.
“He caught a ball and some guy gave him a touch right into a curb. He was completely swollen, and fractured his hand in two places,” a source told People. Even with his broken hand, the musician managed to play at the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala a few days later, before going to surgery.
The musician released five singles during the past months, the most recent one revealed is “Born to Rock”. So far the musician has no scheduled tour dates.
He was part of Bon Jovi from 1983 to 2013, being part of all the successful albums recorded by the group. He reunited with them during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Richie Sambora had already started his solo career while he was still a member of the famous group. His first solo record “Stranger in this Town” was released in 1991, followed by “Undiscovered Soul” (1998) and “Aftermath of the Lowdown” in 2012.
As a duo with his wife Orianthi, the musician released two EPs’ and an album: “Rise” (2017), “Making History” (2017) and the debut album and most recent one “Radio Free America” (2018)
Over the years he also collaborated with names like Cher and Desmond Child. He was previously married to the famous actress Heather Locklear, who before marrying him was the wife of the Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
