Drummer Josh Freese is fired from Foo Fighters
Hired in 2023 to replace the late drummer Taylor Hawkins, Josh Freese toured with the Foo Fighters for the past years but was now fired from the band. The news was shared by the drummer himself on his social media and he said that no reason was given besides saying they wanted to follow other direction in terms of drumming.
What Josh Freese said about being fired from Foo Fighters
“The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided ‘to go in a different direction with their drummer.’ No reason was given. Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.”
“In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I’ve never been let go from a band, so while I’m not angry — just a bit shocked and disappointed,” he continued. “But as most of you know, I’ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands, so I’m fine. Stay tuned for my ‘Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters’ list,” Josh Freese said.
During his career, Freese already worked with bands like Devo, Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle and Offspring.
Foo Fighters’ most recent concert took place in September 2024, but the remaining tour dates were canceled after Dave Grohl announced he was expecting a baby outside of marriage. Since then, he has performed live a few times on special occasions, and Foo Fighters recently announced they will perform this October at the F1 event in Singapore, SG.
