Don Henley says 2026 might the final year for the Eagles
The Eagles have reduced the number of shows they play over the years, but they have not stopped touring. This year, they have eight dates scheduled at the Sphere in Las Vegas and one appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. With both Joe Walsh and Don Henley, the band’s most prominent members today, set to turn 79 in 2026, they are often asked how much longer they plan to stay on the road. In a recent interview with CBS, Henley said the band may be near the end, but they have no plans to stop yet.
Don Henley says the Eagles might be near the end
When asked if 2026 would be the band’s final year, he said: “I think this will probably be it. I feel like we’re getting toward the end, and that will be fine, too. I think so, yeah (it will be the end). And I am OK with that.”
“Because I would like to spend more time with my family, and I would like to spend more time growing vegetables. We see the airports and the hotel room and the venue, and we don’t get out much. I’d like to go back to the places I’ve been and see more of those places before it all disappears.”
“(There are) lots of things to do. I don’t ever want to have a one-dimensional life. This is great, this is wonderful, but there are other things. There’s just lots of other things to do,” Don Henley said (Transcribed by Ultimate Classic Rock).
Besides Henley and Walsh, the band’s current line-up has Timothy B. Schmit (Bass – Since 1977), Vince Gill (Guitar – Since 2017) and Deacon Frey (Guitar and vocals – Since 2017 – Occasional guest). They are accompanied on tour by Scott F. Cargo (Drums – Since 1994), Will Hollis (Keyboards – Since 2001), Michael Thompson (Piano, accordion – Since 2001) and Chris Holt (Guitar – Since 2025).
