David Lee Roth cancels almost all his remaining 2026 tour dates
Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth, who has been touring across the United States this year, has canceled almost all of his remaining tour dates, leaving only one show on the schedule: August 7 in Sturgis, South Dakota. No official reason has been given for the cancellations. However, according to Blabbermouth, there have been multiple reports of empty seats at several of his shows in June and July, leading to speculation that low ticket sales may have played a role.
Since his return last year, his shows have focused exclusively on Van Halen material, but interestingly, at his first show of 2026, he included a cover of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” and played Van Halen’s “Little Dreamer” for the first time since 2003.

Since Eddie’s death, Van Halen’s music has continued to be performed live by David Lee Roth, especially on his latest tour, which is entirely dedicated to the band’s catalog and features no solo material. Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony have done the same, including songs from Hagar’s era with the band in their setlists. Following the news of Roth’s canceled tour dates, Hagar posted a video on social media expressing his support for his former bandmate.
Sammy Hagar said in the message for David Lee Roth
“Hey Dave, Sammy here. I just got a call from Michael Anthony … about your tour getting canceled. And I want to say from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry. I hope you’re well. I hope there’s not a physical problem.”
“Mike and I love the fact that you’ve been out there doing it, supporting the greatest band in the world that we were both part of… supporting what we did in this band to keep this music alive. You and I, Mikey, Al, Ed, cannot be replaced. So when you’re ready to carry on, you go, brother. Mike and I support you.”
“Come to Vegas for the residency in September. Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, MC the damn show. Come out and just do what the fuck you do – which is pretty damn entertaining!” he said.
