David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist slams Roger Waters on Twitter

Since Roger Waters decided to leave Pink Floyd in 1985, his relationship with other members of the group, especially David Gilmour was never good. Over the decades many accusations from both sides were revealed in the press, something that always go in the way of a possible reunion of the group.

The most recent chapter of this ongoing feud between especially Gilmour and Waters is a tweet made by Polly Samson who is Gilmour’s wife and lyricist. She criticized Waters’ position about the war between Russia and Ukraine, besides some other political views he shared over the years.

Last year David Gilmour and Nick Mason reunited as Pink Floyd to record the song “Hey Hey Rise Up” in support of the people of Ukraine.

Besides the two musicians the track also had bassist Guy Pratt, Keyboardist Nitin Sawhney and singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox.

All proceeds of the song went to Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief. Some weeks after the beginning of the war, Pink Floyd blocked all their albums made after Roger Waters left the band in Russia. In the meantime Waters blamed in interviews, like the one reported by Rolling Stone in 2022, the western governments for the war.

Polly Samson (Wife and lyricist of David Gilmour) said about Roger Waters:

“Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching,misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.”

That message was retweeted by Gilmour’s official Twitter account and he added: “Every word demonstrably true”.

The Roger Waters response came not after those comments were made. An statement on his social networks said: “Roger Waters is aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson which he refutes entirely. He is currentl taking advice as to his position”.
