Brian Wilson wants boycott of Beach Boys at hunting event with Trump Jr

A petition created by Chance.org asks fans to “stop buying or download Beach Boys songs, go to shows or buy any merchandise from the band”, until they cancel the show at the Safari Club International Convention, which will take place between the days February 5th and 8th in Reno, Nevada, and that has Donald Trump Jr. as the main figure of the event.

Brian Wilson and Al Jardine are the main supporters of the boycott of the band. Both musicians are no longer part of the current Beach Boys tour, which has only one member, Mike Love.

On twitter, Wilson said about The Beach Boys show:

“It has been brought to my attention that on Wednesday February 5, The Beach Boys touring group licensed by Mike Love are headlining at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada…”

“This organization supports trophy hunting, which Both Al and I are emphatically opposed to. There’s nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition”.

The event sells weapons and other hunting equipment and hosts seminars.

In a statement, Love spoke and stated that the show will proceed as planned:

“We look forward to a night of good music in Reno. And, as always, we support freedom of thought and expression as a fundamental principle of our rights as Americans” .

In the early 1990s, Love sued Wilson twice and won the cases. For songwriting and defamation credits in a Wilson biography. And also won an injunction against Jardine for using the name Beach Boys, for which he won a license for a exclusive tour in 1998.
