Alice Cooper says The Beatles would have certainly reunited

The band Alice Cooper was formed in 1964, not long after the Beatles and had Vincent Furnier as the vocalist, who would later become known as Alice Cooper and would use the name of the group as his artistic name. During those first decades, Cooper became the father of Shock Rock and had the chance to meet many of his heroes, including The Beatles members.

He became a good friend of John Lennon, who was part of the drinking club called “Vampires” that used to reunite at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Los Angeles. That name was the inspiration for the supergroup Hollywood Vampires formed in 2012 by Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry.

In an interview with QFM96 (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), Cooper recalled how John Lennon behaved when people said bad things about his songwriter partner Paul McCartney and said that the group would have certainly reunited if Lennon was still alive. Lennon was killed in New York City on December 8, 1980 at the age of 40.

Alice Cooper says The Beatles would have certainly reunited

“Absolutely (The Beatles would have reunited). Here’s the thing about them. When they were after each other’s throats, when it came to the breakup and all that stuff, if anybody in the ‘Vampires’ back in those days — that was our drinking club — if anybody said anything bad about Paul, John would take a swing at you. Because that was his best friend.”

“If anybody said anything about John to Paul, Paul was not like that, but Paul would walk out of the room; he’d just walk out. Because you are not allowed to talk about their best friends. They were best friends no matter what was going on in the whole thing. One went one way and one went the other.”

Cooper continued:

“I think John wanted to be more political; Paul was not into that that much. John was always trying to get me into politics, and I said, ‘John, you’re trying to save the world. I’m just trying to entertain them,'” Alice Cooper said.

The Hollywood Vampires are currently on the road, they have already played in 2023 across Europe and are now touring in the United States.

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
