Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth will reunite at TEDx

Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth will reunite when joining the acclaimed artist Robert Vargas during the TedxFargo this next thursday, July 30, in Fargo, North Dakota. They are not expected to perform and the event is being promoted as “Three icons. One Stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss”.  Alex was announced as a speaker at the event several weeks ago, but Roth’s participation was only revealed last Monday. He recently cancelled several remaining 2026 solo tour dates.

This will be the first public event Alex and Roth will be together since Van Halen’s final show at the Hollywood Bowl on October 4, 2015. Vargas is a Los Angeles-based artist who created a beautiful mural of Eddie Van Halen in 2021 at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. The event will be filmed and posted on Youtube later.

What Vargas said about the conversation: “Three icons. One stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss. Just added, this Thursday, at @tedxfargo CHARGE, singer @davidleeroth will join legendary drummer @alexvanhalenofficial and renowned contemporary artist @therobertvargas for a special TEDxFargo talk! The filming is taking place this week and will be posted on YouTube/TedxFargo platforms in a few weeks for the public to view for all-time,” he said.

Alex Van Halen recently revealed that he is working with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather to complete what he describes as the final Van Halen album. The project will feature previously unfinished recordings and they plan to invite another singer to perform the vocals. Alex had previously considered organizing a live tribute to Eddie, possibly in the form of a tour. However, according to Alex himself, the project never moved forward because David Lee Roth did not want to acknowledge Eddie during the shows, which was the main reason the tribute did not happen.
