After two months Frank Beard is back in ZZ Top
Back in March, ZZ Top announced that their drummer Frank Beard would have to step away from the band’s tour for a medical procedure, as he was dealing with foot and ankle issues. During the shows that followed, he was replaced by their longtime drum tech John Douglas, who had previously toured with Aerosmith when Joey Kramer chose to stop performing live.
Now the Blues Rock band said that Frank Beard is feeling great and will join the band for their remaining tour dates that are scheduled until the end of the year. “It’s good to be back. See you out there,” the musician said in an official statement.
The band’s vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons talked a little more about Beard’s return: “We’re happy that Frank is back with Elwood and yours truly. We missed him and are looking forward to turning it up and rocking out with him, as has been the case for the last few hundred or so decades.
“His complete recovery is cause for celebration and that’s just what we intend to do on an open-ended basis. Welcome back, pardner!”
