Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson joined Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong on stage at San Diego Comic-Con to perform a cover of “All the Young Dudes”, the song written by David Bowie and made famous by Mott the Hoople. The metal singer performed with The Coverups, Armstrong’s side band dedicated exclusively to playing cover songs.
Dickinson was on the road with Iron Maiden until early July and is now enjoying a short break before the band launches its North American tour on August 29. The tour will then continue through Central America, South America, Oceania, and Asia until December. Green Day has no scheduled tour dates this year
The Coverups were formed in 2018 as a side project by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. Since 2021, Armstrong has been the only Green Day member in the lineup, with the band continuing to perform occasional shows almost every year. Alongside Armstrong, the current lineup features Jason White (vocals, guitar), Bill Schneider (vocals, bass), and Chris Dugan (drums).
I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 9 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
