Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, better known as Eddie Van Halen (born January 26, 1955), is an American guitarist and producer born in the Netherlands. He is the co-founder of Van Halen and in 2012, he was voted the best guitarist of all time by a vote promoted by Guitar World magazine, which had almost 500 thousand votes.

Earlier in his career, Eddie played drums and keyboard and Alex played guitar and studied keyboard. Over time Alex got better than Eddie on drums, and Eddie went on to train guitar, overcoming him.

Eddie is one of the most acclaimed guitarists in history, receiving many honors and mentions by the most varied magazines specialized in the subject. In 2012, was voted the best guitarist of all time, by a vote promoted by the magazine Guitar World, that counted on almost 500 thousand votes. He also ranks 8th on the list of top 100 guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone and 7th on Gibson’s list of top 50 guitarists of all time.
