Ozzy Osbourne has just announced his involvement in a campaign to help find bone marrow donors in the fight against leukemia and other types of blood cancer.

The Indiana University newspaper reports that the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, is supporting the campaign to recruit bone marrow donors to help save the lives of people suffering from the disease. Ozzy’s page was set up by the institute “Love Hope Strength”,
and a message from Madman says:
“Please see if you are eligible to sign up for Love Hope Strength to save a person’s life by donating bone marrow to a patient in need!”

The disease
Leukemia is a group of cancers that usually begin in the bone marrow and result in high numbers of abnormal white blood cells. The white blood cells are not fully developed and are called blasts or leukemia cells.
The Symptoms may include bleeding and bruising problems, feeling tired, fever, and an increased risk of infections. These symptoms occur due to a lack of normal blood cells. Diagnosis is typically made by blood tests or bone marrow biopsy.
The exact cause of leukemia is unknown. Different kinds of leukemia are believed to have different causes. Both inherited and environmental (non-inherited) factors are believed to be involved.
