The guitarist Kerry King helped to form Slayer back in 1981 alongside Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo. In the following years they became one of the biggest Thrash Metal bands in the world and one of the most influential of all time. They were obviously influenced by many Heavy Metal groups and certainly by Black Sabbath, the band that created the music genre.

In an interview with Wall of Sound (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), Kerry King revealed which is his favorite Sabbath album.

“I would take… It’s easy and it’s hard ’cause I’m a super Dio fan. But I would take ‘Sabotage’ (1975). Something about the vibe on that record. It’s cool. I mean, they’re all cool, but something about that one. Maybe ‘Symptom Of The Universe’. I don’t know. It’s nonstop badassery.”
“Sabotage” is Black Sabbath‘s sixth studio album and was produced by the band and Mike Butcher. Besides “Symptom of the Universe”, it also has famous tracks like “Hole In The Sky”, “Supertzar” and “Am I Going Insane”.
At the time the group had the original formation with Ozzy Osbourne (Vocals), Geezer Butler (Bass), Tony Iommi (Guitar) and Bill Ward (Drums). Black Sabbath is one of the most influential groups of all time and Heavy Metal would have never been the same without and maybe Slayer wouldn’t even exist.
The group was formed by Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman, Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo in Los Angeles, California back in 1981. The band’s current line-up has King, Araya, the drummer Paul Bostaph and the guitarist Gary Holt. During their career, the band released 12 studio albums and sold millions of records worldwide. They are part of the “Big Four of Thrash Metal”, which also has Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.
