Joe Satriani reveals G3 tour with Steve Vai and Eric Johnson

Organized by the virtuoso guitarist Joe Satriani since 1996, the G3 tour always feature him and more guitarists on tour performing instrumental tracks. The last time the project was on the road was in 2018 but Satriani announced it will return in 2024 and this time he will be accompanied by Eric Johnson and Steve Vai.

Curiously, the first line-up of the G3 project in 1996 featured the exact same guitarists. “Reuniting the original ‘G3’ line up is a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to take the stage with Eric and Steve again!” Joe Satriani said.

The guitarist Steve Vai also talked about the upcoming tour, saying: G3 is back! After close to 30 years, the original G3 lineup will be going out again with myself, Joe and Eric. I’ve been hoping for this for as long as many of you have, and I’m so looking forward to being on that stage with my G3 brothers again,” Steve Vai said.

Another interesting information is that Satriani was Vai’s guitar teacher when he was a teenager. The first shows announced will happen next January and February in the United States. There are scheduled dates for Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington and Oregon.

As the official statement says these will be the only dates with the three musicians. ” This special reunion tour will just be the dates listed, so make your plans now and come join us!”
