AC/DC shares rehearsal audio with new drummer

AC/DC will finally be back on stage again after many years at the Power Trip Festival in Indio, California next October and they released the first audio of their rehearsals. However, the band noted that the drummer that can be heard is not the band’s original drummer Phil Rudd, who was part of their latest album “Power Up” released in 2020.

According to the statement, the American drummer Matt Laug is the one in the audio. During his career he had worked with Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper and Slash. However, there is no information if Phil Rudd won’t be part of the upcoming show. The good news is that the band’s classic bassist will be with them.

Their current line-up has Brian Johnson (Vocals), Cliff Williams (Bass), Angus Young (Guitar) and Stevie Young (Guitar).

Hear AC/DC’s rehearsal for upcoming show:

“PWR UP for Power Trip! Listen to the rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival and Matt Laug on drums,” the band said.

The Power Trip festival will happen next October with Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Metallica and Tool at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Brian Johnson recently talked about the upcoming AC/DC show

The last time AC/DC played live was back in 2016 with Axl Rose on vocals replacing Brian Johnson that couldn’t perform due to hearing problems.

The legendary AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson talked in an interview with podcast “Fuelling Around” (Transcribed by Blabbermouth) about the show.

“We decided to do this wonderful show that they’ve put together out in the desert near Palm Springs, near Coachella. It’s all rock and roll bands. It’s fantastic. I think it’s just a statement to say that rock and roll is a legitimate form of music. It really has made a difference. I’ll be able to see my old pals again. The Guns N’ Roses boys, the Metallica boys and the Iron Maiden boys — all in one field. Boy, what a party!”

“It’s going to be in a beautiful valley, near Coachella, but I don’t get involved in that kind of thing. I just like to turn up, get up and just rock my little socks off until I drop,” Brian Johnson said.
