Van Halen’s David Lee Roth announces his retirement after next 5 shows
Van Halen singer David Lee Roth revealed in an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal that the next 5 shows he will do in the city will be the last ones of his career. Roth told journalist John Katsilometes: “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement… You’ve got the news. Share it with the world. I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows.”

The shows Roth talked about will take place at the Las Vegas House of Blues next December 31 and January 1, 5, 7, 8.
In the same interview he talked about Alex Van Halen and Eddie, saying:
“Al (Alex Van Halen) and I have been talking, and I can’t speak for him just yet, but he knows what I am about to say. We speak to each other constantly, two or three times a day. We laugh like pirates.”
“I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter. I thought I might have been the first, frankly… ‘Hey Ed (Eddie Van Halen), objects in the rear-view mirror are probably me.’ And my doctors, my handlers, compelled me to really address that every time I go on stage, I endanger that future.”
David Lee Roth finished the interview, saying:
“I’ve given you all I’ve got to give. It’s been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I’ll miss you all. Stay frosty.”

David Lee Roth recently appeared at the VMA’S 2021 red carpet and talked to US Weekly about Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen in a very evasive way but giving some hints about what could happen in the future.
“I’m going to Las Vegas on new year’s and we are rocking and rolling. You know, my guitar player passed away. Eddie Van Halen, he is either in heaven raising hell or he is in hell consequently in heaven. Read into that as you wish and you would have me say it just like that and I carry on that spirit deliberately. There is a lot of Vegas DNA in what I do”.
“I just spoke to Alex Van Halen, we’re about the celebrate our 50th year of ragging on each other (laughs).”
