“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is one of the most famouse Beatles songs from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as “the White Album”). It was written by George Harrison, partly as an exercise in randomness after he consulted the Chinese I Ching, also known as Classic of Changes or Book of Changes.

An is an ancient Chinese divination text and the oldest of the Chinese classics. Possessing a history of more than two and a half millennia of commentary and interpretation, the I Ching is an influential text read throughout the world, providing inspiration to the worlds of religion, psychoanalysis, business, literature, and art.

The song also serves as a comment on the disharmony within the Beatles at the time. The recording includes a lead guitar part played by Eric Clapton, although he was not formally credited for his contribution.
