Sammy Hagar said about talking with Eddie Van Halen before he died:

“Eddie and I had been texting, and it’s been a love fest since we started communicating earlier this year. We both agreed not to tell anyone, because of all the rumors it would stir up about a reunion, etc., and we both knew that wasn’t gonna happen. But he also didn’t want anyone to know about his health.”

“He stopped responding to me a month ago, and I figured it wasn’t good,” he noted. “I reached out one more time last week, and when he didn’t respond, I figured it was a matter of time. But it came way too soon.”

“All the love pouring out from the fans and the news today is all too overwhelming. You can’t imagine the thoughts burning through my brain, my heart, my soul right now. I just want to say, ‘It’s all good between Eddie and I.’ I’ll explain another time when this has digested,” Sammy Hagar said.

Hagar posted in his official social networks a photo with Eddie saying he was “Heartbroken and speechless”.

Eddie Van Halen technique

Early in his career, Eddie played the drums and the keyboard and Alex played the guitar and studied the keyboard. Over time Alex got better than Eddie on drums, and Eddie started to train the guitar, overcoming him.

Eddie is one of the most acclaimed guitarists in history. Eventually he received several honors and mentions from the most varied magazines specializing in the subject. Besides, he ranks 8th on the list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. Also is the 7th on the Gibson list of the 50 best guitarists of all time.
