Elton John criticizes Russia and Eastern Europe for gay discrimination
British singer-songwriter Elton John fired criticism to the governments of Russia and some Eastern European countries accused of “major discrimination against gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders and obstacles to the fight against AIDS. ”

“If there were not this sectarianism and this hatred, AIDS could be eradicated much faster than you can imagine,” he told reporters at the AIDS conference in Amsterdam.
“These countries practice a policy of major discrimination against members of the LGBT community,” he denounced.
