5 great famous Rock songs that are not available on Spotify

Judas Priest “The Ripper”

As the Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford revealed in an interview in 2020, the band doesn’t own the rights to their first two albums “Rocka Rolla” (1974) and “Sad Wings of Destiny” (1976). Those records have many incredible songs from their discography and one is “The Ripper”, from their second album.

Although the original version is not available on streaming platforms like Spotify, the live version can be heard since their live album “Unleashed In The East” is on the platform. The track had been part for decades of their live shows and it’s one of their most famous ones.

Colin Hay “Into My Life”

The hit “Into My Life” was written by Colin Hay and released in 1990 on his second solo album “Wayfaring Sons”. That album is not available on Spotify, but there is an acoustic version from Colin himself that can be heard. That version was included in 2023 as a single.

Hay is one of the founders, the leader, guitarist and singer of the successful Australian band Men at Work. He also had been a frequent member during the past decades of Ringo Starr’s All Starr band.

David Coverdale “Last Note of Freedom”

Another good song that is not on Spotify is “Last Note of Freedom” by the Whitesnake vocalist and leader David Coverdale. It was co-written by the former member of Deep Purple, Billy Idol and the German film score composer Hans Zimmer.

It was made to be part of the soundtrack of the Tony Scott movie “Days of Thunder” released in 1990. With Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the film told the story of a young stock car pilot.

The soundtrack also had John Waite, Tina Turner, Chicago, Cher, Guns N’ Roses and more.

Trooper “Raise a Little Hell”

Written by the singer Ra Mcguire and the guitarist Brian Smith, the track “Raise a Little Hell” was first featured on Trooper’s fourth studio album “Thick as Thieves” (1978). It became the only hit by the Canadian band to appear on the United States Hot 100 chart. Since then it has been played in sport stadiums in Canada and United States.

It also appeared in movies and TV shows like the Netflix successful show “Stranger Things. Although the original version by Trooper is not available on Spotify there are many covers of the song that can be heard on the platform.

The Cult “Painted on My Heart”

Another great song composed for a movie soundtrack is “Painted On My Heart” by The Cult. But like “Last Note Of Freedom”, the track is also not available on Spotify. Although the band recorded the track, the song was actually written by the American songwriter Diane Warren. She already won an Academy Honorary Award, Grammy Award, Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards.

It was recorded for the movie “Gone In 60 Seconds” released in 2000, which had Nicolas Cage and Angeline Jolie. The movie showed the story of a former car thief who had to rob 50 cars in one night to save the life of his brother. At the time, the track peaked at number 26 on the United States Mainstream Rock chart.
