What Neil Peart’s widow and daughter said about Rush’s return

The final Rush concert with the late drummer Neil Peart took place in 2015 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Five years later, the musician sadly passed away at the age of 67, a victim of cancer. He had joined the band in 1974 and became a fundamental member, writing most of the lyrics over the following decades, which contributed to Rush’s unique sound and songwriting.

Five years after his death, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee decided it was time to get back on the road and celebrate their music live once again. They will be joined by German drummer Anika Nilles and a keyboardist, who is yet to be announced. But what about Neil Peart’s family? His widow and daughter gave the musicians their blessing to continue, as stated in an official announcement.

What Neil Peart’s widow and daughter said about Rush’s return

“We are thrilled to support the Fifty Something tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated and inspired fans for generations, and to honor Neil’s extraordinary legacy as both a drummer and lyricist.

Neil’s musicianship was singular. Compositions of intricacy and power that expanded what rhythm itself could express. As both drummer and lyricist, he was irreplaceable. Inimitable in his artistry, and unmatched in the depth and imagination he brought to the lyrics that inspired and moved so many, he profoundly shaped how fans connected with him and the band, giving voice and meaning to their own lives.

As the band enters this new chapter, it promises to be truly unforgettable. We are excited to see how their new vision unfolds, and to hear this legendary music played live once again,” Carrie Nuttall-Peart and Olivia Peart said.
