The legendary heavy metal trio that inspired many bands like Slayer and Sepultura performed their new song “100 Miles To Hell” in the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
The song is the title track of the band’s new three-track EP, that will be released digitally through Spinefarm Records on December 22. It will be available via D2C basis on January 19 in the U.S.
Take a look:
The EP will feature three brand new studio songs: “We The Loud”, “Beaten To A Pulp” and the title track. It’s the first “fresh” Venom material since the “From The Very Depths”, the studio album from 2015.
Venom’s music
Venom was one of the first incarnations of extreme metal, and influenced many thrash metal, black metal, death metal and other extreme metal styles. The exact genre of the band has been a topic of debate. Venom was labeled in various genres by the press. Most prominent genres are black metal, thrash metal, and speed metal.
The leader and vocalist Cronos insists on calling it black metal
Read what he said:
“It’s one of the things when I first saw when I saw the Norwegian scene beginning in the early nineties. I thought: ok, I know they said Venom are an influence, etcetera, etcetera; let’s see where these guys are coming from. And then when I started to read the lyrics, read the interviews and see they were kind of saying the same thing, but about their country, they had their religion, with all the Norse gods like Wodan and Thor.”
“And then all of the sudden the Christians came in and they tried to destroy their religion. It’s great that they stayed within in their country’s beliefs for their lyrics as well. So, they’re not the exactly the same things as Venom, they invented something of their own, which I think is fucking great.”
