“When we went to São Paulo in 2016, we filmed the ‘Conquer or Die’ video. We were so impressed with director Leo Libertini that we asked him to make the ‘Lying in State’ clip too (…) Many thanks to Kiko Loureiro for introducing us to Leo. I loved how Vic was holding a sword! ”
The Leo-led production company, Libertà Filmes, has received numerous awards such as the Latin Grammy, Cannes and Clio over the years.
Dystopia
The album, produced by Dave Mustaine and Toby Wright, is the band’s first since The System Has Failed (2004). Does not have drummer Shawn Drover and the first since Endgame (2008) without guitarist Chris Broderick. These roles were filled by Chris Adler of Lamb of God and Kiko Loureiro from Angra, respectively.
The album debuted at No. 3 on Billboard, beating Youthanasia, who debuted at No. 4 in the season, only to fall behind Countdown to Extinction. The album also sold more than 49,000 copies in the debut week.
The song “Dystopia” was nominated for the 2017 Grammy Award and ended up winning in the category Best Metal Performance.
