First known as Guillotine and Dwarfstar, Venom was formed in 1978 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and gained notoriety being part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their first two records “Welcome to Hell” (1981) and “Black Metal” (1982) are considered extremely important for the development of other Metal genres like Black Metal, Thrash Metal and Extreme Metal. The only original member of the group that is still in the line-up is Conrado “Cronos” Lant (Bass and vocals), who is accompanied by the longtime bandmates Stuart “Rage” Dixon (Guitar) and Danny “Dante” Needham (Drums).
