Born in Düsseldorf, Germany back in 1954, the guitarist Uli Jon Roth (68) was a member of Scorpions from 1973 to 1978, appearing on many classic albums of the band in the 70s. Since then he had released many records with his band Electric Sun and from his solo career.
He had many schedule tour dates in the United States next September but he announced those shows are postponed because he had recently an operation to remove a kidney. The surgery was successful and he is already able to play but he was advised by doctors not to embark on a major tour now like the one scheduled for the USA. So he will only perform a few selected shows in Europe during the next months.
Uli Jon Roth postpones tour after surgery to remove kidney
The official statement shared by his social networks, said: “We regret to announce the postponement of Uli Jon Roth’s upcoming North American tour due to health reasons.”
“The tour is now being rescheduled for Spring 2024. Following an unexpected, yet successful, kidney removal operation, Uli is fit to play, but has been advised not to embark on a full-scale major tour just yet. Uli will be performing at selected shows in continental Europe during his recovery period.”
“We want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly but the health and well-being of Uli is our utmost priority. All purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available for those who can’t attend the new dates.”
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Stay tuned for the updated tour schedule which should be available soon. Uli will also make a personal statement on his website and on his Patreon channel next week. Best wishes,” the statement said.
