The former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin is currently promoting the box-set “Anno Domini”, which has the albums the Heavy Metal recorded with him on vocals. In an interview with RockSverige the singer said that he would like to work again with Tony Iommi if the guitarist would be up to it.
Tony Martin says he would like to work again with Tony Iommi
“I would, and I’ve already said that if he felt like doing something I’d be up for it. I don’t think Tony is really… What’s the word?… I think he’s come to the end of his need to do things. He doesn’t need to do this stuff. As you get older, and he had that problem with the cancer thing, he’s definitely not interested in touring, really.”
He continued:
“He could do the odd appearance, but he doesn’t need to, so I don’t know. I’d like to, but it’s one of these things… Whilst everybody’s still alive, there’s always a possibility. I mean, they could still get Bill Ward back in the band and start again, in theory.”
“Once people start passing along, you can’t sort of do that anymore. I’ve already said that I wouldn’t mind doing something if they were interested. We’ll see how it goes,” Tony Martin said.
Tony Martin joined Black Sabbath in 1987 and was a member of the band until 1991 when Ronnie James Dio re-joined the group. After Dio left in 1992 he returned and was a part of the band until 1997 when they reunited with Ozzy Osbourne.
He was part of the album “Eternal Idol” (1987), “Headless Cross” (1989), “Tyr” (1990), “Cross Purposes” (1994) and “Forbidden” (1995).
During his career the singer also released solo albums, the first one being “Back Where I Belong” in 1992. His most recent one is “Thorns”, released in 2022.
