Since its release in 1983, “Born Again”, the only Black Sabbath album featuring Ian Gillan on vocals and the last one with Bill Ward on drums, has gained a cult following among fans. However, band members have often said that the original recording sounded better before it was messed up during the mixing process. Now, in an interview with Planet Rock, Tony Iommi, who is promoting his new solo album “From the Dark”, said that the record will certainly be remixed in the near future.
Tony Iommi says Sabbath’s “Born Again” will be remixed
“Yes, there is a plan. To be honest, we couldn’t find those tapes for a long time. They disappeared. And I don’t know who located them at the end, whether it was Ralph [Baker], my manager, or who found them. But they were in some record company storage. And anyway, we’ve gotten them back and they were transferred. So they are ready to start work on.”
Iommi went on to say that “so many people have got used to” the “Born Again” sound, with all of its production flaws. “Some of them liked it,” he added. “And I’m sure if I do a remix on it, it’ll be, ‘Oh, no. It’s not as good as it was before.'”
Despite the fact that some fans don’t believe “Born Again” needs a remix, Iommi said that “[we’re] definitely gonna give it a go. Because when we actually did it and we heard it in a studio, it was great. And then we went on tour, and the next thing, it’s in the charts here, and we heard it. We thought, ‘God, it’s really muffly. What happened?’ Somewhere in the process along the way, something happened,” Tony Iommi said (Transcribed by Blabbermouth).
Some of the most famous tracks from “Born Again”, besides the title-track, are “Trashed”, “Disturbing The Priest” and “Zero The Hero”. Besides Gillan and Ward, were also part of that album Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler.
