After 15 years apart from each other, the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are finally together again in Oasis. But they said many interesting things about each other during these almost two decades they were constantly fighting in the press and social media.
Although they never really praised each other much during these years, the band’s vocalist Liam Gallagher revealed once which was a Noel Gallagher solo song that he actually liked.
The Noel Gallagher solo song that Liam said he likes
The brothers released the first albums of their post-Oasis bands’ in 2011: “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” (2011) and Beady Eye “Different Gear, Still Speeding” (2011). Until Liam’s interview with NME in 2018, Noel had released the albums “Chasing Yesterday” (2015) and “Who Built the Moon?” (2017).
During the conversation, Liam was asked about Noel’s most recent album at the time, released in 2017. He revealed that he actually liked the track “Dead In The Water”. (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage) “The situation is still the same. He is off doing his cosmic pop while I’m doing my thing and giving the people what they want. That’s what life’s always been about , as far as I’m concerned. I mean, giving the kids what they want. If you can do that and you get what you want out of it, and that’s to me is like, Nirvana.”
He continued:
“No, I’ve not sat down with it, God, no. I’ve heard it, like what I’ve heard. Obviously, people are going to say, I’m digging him out. I prefer his first two other ones. I like his formula, you know. (But) I mean, the songs, you know. I just don’t think the songs are that good. There’s just lots of silly and not even production on it and that’s not me digging it out. I just think, (songs) like ‘Dead In The Water” is a good tune. I just don’t think it’s as good as his first two,” Liam Gallagher said.
A curious thing is that Noel had a musician playing scissors live in the concert, transforming the sound of the scissors part of the music. Liam was asked if he would also like to use one in his shows and he replied: “No, God, no”.
Besides being Oasis’ guitarist, Noel Gallagher was also the band’s main songwriter. With his own band, the High Flying Birds, he continued to be praised as a songwriter and had many famous tracks. Some of them are “If I Had a Gun”, “In the Heat of The Moment”, “AKA… What a Life!”and “The Death of You and Me”.
As for Liam, he recorded only one more album with Beady Eye in 2013 before the band came to an end. He would record again in 2017 but as a solo act. Until now he released three solo albums: “As You Were” (2017), “Why Me? Why Not” and “C’mon You Know” (2022).
Oasis
One of the most successful bands from the 90s, Oasis sold an estimated amount of more than 100 million records worldwide. They were a huge inspiration to a whole new generation of artists. Centered on the brothers Liam Gallagher (Vocals) and Noel Gallagher (Main songwriter, guitarist and sometimes singer), the group was active from 1991 to 2009, reuniting in 2025.
They were the only two members who had been part of the band during all the years they were together. Also the only two who appeared on all their 7 studio albums.
