Deadland ritual released their first song “Down In Flames” and also the official video. The band is formed by Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, ex-GN’R and The Cult drummer Matt Sorum, Billy Idol’s guitarist Steve Stevens, and Apocalyptica’s vocalist Franky Perez.
See the video below:
The band will perform live on June 22 on the 2019’s Hellfest in Clisson, France, in the same day as KISS, Def Leppard and Whitesnake.
The band wrote in the description of the video the statement:
“Saints and sinners and fans of hard rock and heavy metal will find a lot to love about Deadland Ritual. The band creates a sludgy atmospheric soundscape that is just as mystical and thought-provoking as the visuals that their name conjures up. Gritty and powerful vocals soar, surrounded by a swell of harmonies that coagulate together with an interlocking combination of heavy riffs, rhythm and low end. Best heard at full volume, this is a group that will leave a mark when you see them live.”
Geezer Butler about new project
Last year, Geezer told Rolling Stone he had “about 120 riffs written down” for his next musical project, adding he just needed “to pick a guitarist and sort through them.”
Earlier this year, when Black Sabbath came to an end, Geezer Butler had revealed his upcoming plans. At the time, he said he wanted to write an autobiography and make a solo album. Butler apparently changed his mind about solo career and opted to remain in a band.
